Alumni Spotlight

With college baseball beginning this past weekend, our “Alumni Spotlight” series is released for the 2025 college baseball season.

This series highlights standout performances from our former New England Scorpions players at their current College/University or Professional team.


In the past 9 years, we have had 110+ New England Scorpions players commit to play college baseball. These players attend over 40+ institutions across the country. We are proud of every player and look forward to following their hard work each week.


Alumni Spotlight #8:  Ryan Andrade (Charleston RiverDogs)Ryan AndradeOur eighth New England Scorpion to be recognized is Ryan Andrade. Andrade is a RHP who played at the University of Pittsburgh before being selected in the 7th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. This is his first professional season for the Charleston RiverDogs (Single-A Affiliate), who compete in the Carolina League. 


Ryan has made three starts (1-0 record) for the RiverDogs with an impressive pitching stat-line of:

14IP - .064 ERA - 11K’s - 1.07 WHIP. Andrade’s best game came against the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers Single-A Affiliate) on April 18th. In that game, Ryan pitched 6 innings with a stat-line of 2H-0R-2BB-3K. He was named “Player of the Game” and the RiverDogs came out victorious winning 1-0. That appearance also extended Andrade’s “scoreless innings streak” to 13 innings.

Alumni Spotlight #7: Sean Stephenson (Iona University)

Sean Stephenson

Our seventh New England Scorpion to be recognized is Sean Stephenson. Stephenson is freshman third baseman at Iona University. Iona is a division 1 program that competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.


The “Gaels” are 29 games into their season with Sean having his best game on April 6th against Manhattan University (Manhattan, NY). In that game, Stephenson was 3-5 with a home run and 3 RBI’s. 


Sean has had an impressive season at the plate. He currently has 108 at-bats and is second on the team in hitting with a stat line of .333-2HR-20RBI-9 Doubles-21R-14BB-.893OPS.

Alumni Spotlight #6: Josh Leadem (Rochester University)Josh LeademOur sixth New England Scorpion to be recognized is Josh Leadem. Leadem is Senior OF at Rochester University. Rochester is a division 3 program that competes in the Liberty League Conference.


The “Yellow Jackets” are 17 games into their season with Josh sealing his name in the record books in game 4 of the year against the University of Scranton (Scranton, PA). In that game, Leadem had 4 stolen bases, giving him a career total 92 stolen bases and setting the all-time career stolen base record for the program. 


Leadem is still swiping bags and swinging a hot bat. Currently, he has 102 career stolen bases, in 127 career total attempts, and is second on the team in hitting with a stat line of .358-3HR-14RBI-17R-14SB.

Alumni Spotlight #5: Parker Camelo (Rhode Island College)Parker Camelo

Our fifth New England to be recognized is Parker Camelo. Camelo is a Sophomore INF at Rhode Island College. RIC is a division 3 program that competes in the Little East Conference.


The “Anchormen” began their season in Florida with Parker making his biggest impact in game 4 of the year against Wittenberg University (Springfield, OH). In that game, Camelo went 3-5 at the plate with 2HR-2RBI-3R. It was Camelo’s first collegiate home runs and earn him the “Rhode Island College Male Athlete of the Week” award.

After 11 games into the season, Parker is still swinging a hot bat. At one point, he had a 6 game hit streak, and currently he is second on the team in hitting with a stat line of .391-2HR-11RBI-12R.

Alumni Spotlight #4: Caleb Leys (University of Maine)

Caleb LeysOur fourth New England Scorpion to be recognized is Caleb Leys. Leys is a RS Junior LHP at the University of Maine. Maine is a division 1 program that competes in the America East Conference, where he was selected to their “Pre-Season All-Conference Team.” Currently, Caleb is 1 of 4 former Scorps players on the Maine roster, and we have another 4 high school players in the program committed to play at the University of Maine. 


Last season, Caleb missed the entire year due to Tommy John Surgery. Fortunately, he has made a full recovery, feels great, and has been able to start each series on the mound in 2025. Leys’ first pitch this season was clocked at 96mph, and his best performance came on Saturday in game #2 at Bucknell University (PA).


Caleb, who is still on a limited pitch count, threw 6 innings of perfect baseball, earning him the “America East Pitcher of the Week” award. Not only did he finish with a perfect game through 6IP, but he also had 9 strikeouts. The performance showed why he is drawing interest from major league scouts.

Alumni Spotlight #3: Davis Johnson (Notre Dame)

Davis JohnsonOur third New England Scorpion to be recognized is Davis Johnson. Johnson is a sophomore catcher at the University of Notre Dame. ND (IN) is a division 1 program that competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference.


The “Fighting Irish” record is 8-1 to begin their season with Davis making his biggest impact on the road in game 2 against Belmont Univeristy (Nashville, TN). In that game, Davis went 3-4 at the plate with 1HR-2R-1RBI and a runner thrown out stealing. It was Johnson’s first collegiate home run and ND won the game 2-1, with both runs being scored by Davis. Johnson is swinging a hot bat and is third on the team in batting average (.364).

Alumni Spotlight #2: Adonis Medina (University of Rhode Island

Adonis Medina

Our second New England Scorpion to be recognized is Adonis Medina. Medina is a freshman outfielder at the University of Rhode Island. URI is a division 1 program that competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference, and Adonis is the 5th player from our program to be committed by their coaching staff.


URI began their season with a three-game series at the College of William & Mary (VA), where Medina was able to debut his talents in game 3 of the series. In his first collegiate start, Medina had 5 plate appearances and finished 2-2 at the plate with 2HR-4R-3RBI-3BB. That one performance earned him the Atlantic 10 “Rookie of the Week” award and a start in each of the next 4 games against #11 nationally ranked University of Oregon.


Medina's performance helped URI defeat #11 Oregon in game one. He stayed hot with the bat finishing 2-3 at the plate with 1HR-3RBI-1R-1BB. After starting 5 games this season, Adonis is batting .333 with 3HR-7RBI-.933SLG%-.524OBP-6BB.

Alumni Spotlight #1: Grayson Sparr (Stonehill College)

Grayson SparrOur first New England Scorpion to be recognized is Grayson Sparr. Sparr is a red-shirt sophomore outfielder at Stonehill College (MA). Stonehill is a division 1 program that competes in the Northeast Conference (NEC), and Grayson is the sixth player from our program to be committed by their coaching staff.


Last season, Sparr suffered a shoulder injury that prevented him from playing his freshman year. This past weekend, Stonehill began their season with a four-game series at Florida International University and Sparr did not disappoint in his collegiate debut.


Grayson appeared in all four games and finished the series with a batting line of .429 BA / 1.786 OBPS / 2 HR / 4 RBI / .500 OBP / 1.286 SLG%. His performance was outstanding and earned him the “NEC Prime Performer of the Week” award. We are immensely proud of Grayson and wish him the best of luck the rest of the season! #ScorpNation
